Achieving sustainability is one of the greatest global challenges of our time. Although sustainability is a broad topic, it is becoming increasingly important, especially on a global perspective.
In 2015, the UN identified 17 trends for sustainability. These Sustainable Development Goals“ provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.” These goals serve as an urgent call for action by the entire world.
SPGX is committed to project development in the following areas of sustainability: technology, longevity, consumer goods, and agriculture. Some of the megatrends SPGX currently targets include:
- Zero hunger & food security
- Clean water & sanitation
- Good health & well-being
- Industry, innovation &infrastructure
- Responsible consumption & production (including lowering CO2 emissions)
We only seek out companies that can make a positive and lasting impact in the world. For example, the current lead project within the SPGX portfolio is Cormo USA Inc., a company that makes sustainable products from corn straw. The Cormo technology allows the conversion of unused corn stalk “stubble” remaining after harvest into value-added products such as the peat moss substitute TEFA and materials used in air filtration, water conservation, and green building solutions.
